Prestige Staffing is seeking a motivated and reliable Commercial Cookery Apprentice to commence their Certificate III in Commercial Cookery through our established Group Training Organisation (GTO) services, hosted with a well-established hospitality venue in Wentworth.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity to start your career in commercial cookery while gaining practical, on-the-job experience in a busy kitchen.
As an Apprentice Chef, you will work alongside an experienced Head Chef and kitchen team, developing the skills required to become a qualified cook.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation
  • Prepare and portion ingredients including meats and vegetables
  • Assist with preparation of sauces, garnishes, and menu components
  • Measure and assemble ingredients according to recipes
  • Maintain mise en place and stock rotation in line with food safety standards
Cooking & Service
  • Assist in preparing and cooking bistro-style meals under supervision
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely (ovens, grills, fryers, etc.)
  • Plate and present meals to venue standards
  • Support service during busy periods while maintaining portion control
Food Safety & Hygiene
  • Follow food safety procedures and relevant NSW regulations
  • Maintain safe food handling and hygiene practices
  • Clean and sanitise food preparation areas and equipment
  • Monitor temperature control and safe storage of food
Cleaning & General Duties
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment
  • Assist with end-of-day kitchen cleaning and close-down procedures
  • Dispose of waste in accordance with workplace procedures
  • Support team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations
About You
  • Current driver’s licence and reliable transport (essential – travel to Wentworth required)
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
  • Genuine interest in pursuing a career in commercial cookery
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions
