About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity to start your career in commercial cookery while gaining practical, on-the-job experience in a busy kitchen.
As an Apprentice Chef, you will work alongside an experienced Head Chef and kitchen team, developing the skills required to become a qualified cook.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation
- Prepare and portion ingredients including meats and vegetables
- Assist with preparation of sauces, garnishes, and menu components
- Measure and assemble ingredients according to recipes
- Maintain mise en place and stock rotation in line with food safety standards
- Assist in preparing and cooking bistro-style meals under supervision
- Operate kitchen equipment safely (ovens, grills, fryers, etc.)
- Plate and present meals to venue standards
- Support service during busy periods while maintaining portion control
- Follow food safety procedures and relevant NSW regulations
- Maintain safe food handling and hygiene practices
- Clean and sanitise food preparation areas and equipment
- Monitor temperature control and safe storage of food
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment
- Assist with end-of-day kitchen cleaning and close-down procedures
- Dispose of waste in accordance with workplace procedures
- Support team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Current driver’s licence and reliable transport (essential – travel to Wentworth required)
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Genuine interest in pursuing a career in commercial cookery
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions
- Full-time apprenticeship with on-the-job training
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery through Prestige Staffing (GTO)
