First People of the Millewa-Mallee Aboriginal Corporation (FPMMAC) is a dynamic organisation formed by the Latji Latji, Ngintait, and Nyeri Nyeri peoples, the Traditional Owners and Custodians of Country. As the appointed Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) for a significant area in North West Victoria, FPMMAC holds crucial functions and responsibilities to protect and manage Aboriginal cultural heritage.

About the Role

FPMMAC are seeking a passionate and strategic  Economic Development Officer  to drive business development initiatives and create meaningful partnerships that support the economic aspirations of the Millewa-Mallee Traditional Owners.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on collaboration, has a strong understanding of Aboriginal business development, and is committed to delivering sustainable economic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support projects that promote private enterprise and economic growth for FPMMAC.
  • Build strong relationships with Traditional Owners, Aboriginal stakeholders, government agencies, and industry partners.
  • Identify and pursue business opportunities and investment prospects.
  • Conduct research and analyse economic trends to inform strategic decisions.
  • Prepare reports, funding submissions, tenders, and briefings for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and other stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of economic initiatives.
  • Represent FPMMAC in relevant forums and contribute to policy and planning discussions.
  • Comply with all safety policies, procedures and work instructions to support a safe work environment.
Key Selection Criteria
  • Demonstrated experience working with Traditional Owners and Aboriginal communities.
  • Proven ability to develop partnerships and business opportunities across public and private sectors.
  • Strong project coordination skills with a track record of delivering outcomes on time.
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, and economic modelling tools.
  • High level of initiative, discretion, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel across FPMMAC Country.
  • Satisfactory National Police Check and Victorian Working With Children Check.
